This gentleman, who has a Masters Degree in Physics, fled his home country under threat of death. This was after he had endured extreme torture and sexual assault by authority figures, which has resulted in severe physical ailments and psychological effects.
He asked that we share it.
To the Employees of Family Support Services,
Receive by this the thanks of a person to whom you have given a taste of life. On April 25, 2014, when I went to you local right here in Amarillo, I was someone who had lost a taste for life, his family... but on the face and lips of everyone among you, found a smile and words reconfortante (translation: that were comforting).
Today as yesterday, every single second I spend with one of you gives me a little more joy to live, see other people live and integrate me more into society not as a man of the past but the man focused on the future. I think and I am convinced that the American society and more particularly that of Amarillo should be very proud to have a place like that. I would call Family Support Services the “hospital” that procures not only a taste of life for the population but where the population treats wounds of the mind and the soul.
From the receptionist to the manager, all of you restore this confidence in me to create in my native country a home like yours to people who have great need. I have laid the foundations for this in my country, but the government pressure against me made me leave it behind. I pray to God that he gives each of you strength and determination in all your endeavors to be always at the heart of this turbulent society and in the service of those who have lost the taste to live.
