Parenting programs at FSS provide one-on-one and group support to parents/caregivers of youth with emotional, behavioral and mental health issues.

Family Support Specialists and educators assist parents as natural supports by partnering with families who are navigating the education, child welfare, mental health and juvenile justice systems; helping parents prepare for and then accompany them to meetings with schools, service providers, and child & family teams; and educating parents/caregivers to achieve successful outcomes including improving children’s ability to function at home, in school, and in their community.

Our Programs include:

Love and Logic Parent Education Groups

Weekly sessions for parents and guardians (who are primary caretakers). Respect for confidentiality allows parents to connect with other parents and caregivers facing similar issues, receive information about topics related to raising children with behavioral, emotional and/or mental health challenges, share coping strategies, establish social networks, and feel more empowered.

Love and Logic Groups

Every Thursday 5:30-6:30 PM (ongoing)

Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support (HOPES)

HOPES is a collaborative parent support program that includes home visitation, group classes and activities. HOPES is for caregivers of children ages 0-5 in Potter and Randall Counties. HOPES is designed to align parents and caregivers alike with the tools they need to strengthen their family’s well-being.

Strengthening Families Program (SFP)

The Strengthening Families Program serves families with children ages 6 to 11 through local partners in settings that include community centers, schools, and churches. SFP is designed to help families develop positive discipline practices, stay resilient in tough times, reduce conflict, improve parenting skills, and assist children with social skills, relationships, and school performance. All these factors play an important role in keeping families strong while protecting against potential abuse or neglect and adverse childhood experiences.

Fatherhood Empowerment

The FSS Fatherhood Initiative is committed to helping fathers, male caregivers and their families achieve positive outcomes and become strong advocates and role models for their children. We do this by providing a range of assistance for fathers.

Substance Abuse Prevention

At FSS, our substance abuse prevention strategies educate and avert individuals from engaging in behaviors which may lead to unhealthy lifestyles and future substance abuse. To this end, FSS provides a series of educational classes in the community, alternative drug-free activities, youth mentoring, as well as specialized presentations, referrals, and information dissemination.

Human Trafficking Prevention

Human Trafficking is a crime against humanity. It involves an act of recruiting, transporting, transferring, harboring or receiving a man, woman or child through the use of force, fraud, coercion or other means, for the purpose of exploiting them for labor or sex trafficking.
